Before I did this work, I lived it.
I co-founded and owned a software company, where — like most owners of small, growing businesses — I didn't get to specialize in just one thing. I handled the financing. I ran operations. I answered customer service calls. I wore every hat, often on the same day, because that's what building a business actually looks like. Bookkeeping was never the reason I started that company, but it was always there in the background, competing for time and attention I didn't have to spare.
That experience is exactly why I do this work now. I know firsthand what it's like to be pulled in ten directions and to have the books slide to the bottom of the list — not because they don't matter, but because everything else feels more urgent. Left unattended, that gap can lead to a costly blindside later — a lender or buyer asking questions the numbers can't answer, a tax deadline you're not ready for, or a grant opportunity missed altogether.
It's not because owners aren't smart or capable. It's because there was never enough time, staff, or budget to keep on top of it the way it deserved.
That's the gap I fill.
A Different Kind of Perspective
After my time as an owner, I became a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) — work that let me bring that owner's perspective to helping other business owners. My work has never been just about the numbers on a page. I help owners understand what their business is worth, how to build that value over time, and how to prepare for the moment — whether that's a sale, a loan, a partnership, or simply peace of mind — long before it arrives.
Bookkeeping grew naturally out of that work. Too many of the owners have books are behind, messy, or simply not trustworthy enough to tell the real story of their business. And they are too small to justify a full-time controller or a big outsourced accounting firm.
So I built a bookkeeping service specifically for them — one that’s built for businesses where every dollar counts, and that keeps things clean and current every month, without the jargon, the lectures, or the overhead of a bigger firm.
